Real Family Holiday Scottish Highland 2014 Reviews:

4 Star PicA great chance to do some weeding in a perfect environment. (Highlands, May)

5 Star PicExcellent. (Highlands, August)

4 Star Pic My 15 year old son and I had a lovely time, it was so good to see him actually forget about his smart phone and get involved in all the activities - that hasnt happened for a very long time. Really enjoyable, the staff were fantastic and so enthusiastic and the food was great. Only downer was the weather which of course you cant predict in Scotland. (Highlands, August)

5 Star Pic Hi there. My Family and I had a great week at Kindrogan (despite the weather) The activities on offer were fab, well led by the tutor, he was informative, supportive and approachable, just want you need in a tutor. He even recovered my daughters glasses from the bottom of the Loch while raft building!!!! top man. The food was to a good standard and plenty of it, great choice of packed lunch items and lovely afternoon cakes !! The chef even made a birthday cake for my son as we arrived on the first day. We have told lots of our friends about our positive experience and we will be sure to see you again............WE LOVED IT !!!!! Cheers Ainsley family (Highlands, August)

3 Star Pic Good holiday and friendly staff but let down by poor standards of cleanliness of some toilets and common areas. Mix up with booking also went unresolved for duration of holiday. Good value but room for improvement. Quality of food was good and access to local wildlife was excellent. (Highlands, August)

5 Star PicWe had an amazing time at Kindrogan in July. We made lots of new friends, took part in a range of interesting and challenging activities and throughout were supported by the fantastic staff. The tutors made every activity fun for all ages whilst the catering team ensured we didn't lose any weight from our exertions by serving us fabulous home made food. (The Highlands, July)

5 Star PicAn excellent holiday, the tutors in particular were really good, but the whole team were very helpful and made our stay brilliant. Only changes we would suggest are to have dinner a little later and open the bar sooner! (Highlands, August)

We had a fantastic and memorable holiday. The room was clean and quirky; the food was restaurant standard; the cook and all the rest of the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. The location was beautiful and activities were fun. Do something about the midges though!!!! ;-) Most of all my daughter had an amazing time, cried because we had to leave, didn't touch her ipad all week and wants to come back next year! (Highlands, July)

My husband, two boys (9 and 6) and myself had a wonderful time at Kindrogan in the Cairngorms. The accommodation was comfortable, sufficient and clean. The food was great and plentiful. Activities were varied, interesting and with a great mix of fun, challenge and education. My family particularly enjoyed raft building, the leap of faith and spotting wildlife (except the midges)Activity leaders were fun, knowledgable and incredibly helpful as were all other staff members that we encountered. Kindrogan has good facilities that made it easy for guests to socialise with each other and children to play and interact with each other outside of arranged activities. We hope to try out other centres and also bring along wildlife loving grandparents too.  (Highlands, August)

Real Family Holiday Lake District 2014 Reviews:

4 Star Pic Enjoyed the stay at Blencatha. The food was basic but good. The room was clean with plenty of space. Will be booking with FSC again next year. (Lake District, August)

5 Star PicAbsolutely fantastic. Great value, great location, great staff. (Lake District, August)

5 Star Pic We did not want to go home. Staff brill. Food brill. We loved the cakes and the relaxed atmosphere. We love geocaching and walking so the sandwich making in the morning was beyond perfect and gave us such a lovely choice. Thank you for making our holiday so stress free at such a bargain price. Our children met lots if new friends and it felt it was all for the kids who were allowed to be free and enjoy themselves. Thanks to all the staff. Real Family Holidays should not be a 3 year trial - it should be permanent. We'll be back in 2015... (Lake District, August)

5 Star PicI and my three daughters’ all had an absolutely superb faultless stay. From the moment we booked, arrived and departed all the staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. Meals were excellent and of top quality, rooms clean and comfortable. Location was perfect for days out walking. My youngest (10) enjoyed the daily activity given by enthusiastic knowledgeable staff as did the adults when team building. The older two enjoyed the games room facilities with their own TV. When asked yesterday if they would like to go back next year, I received three resounding yeses and would like to return to Blencathra. So will be booking again at the earliest opportunity. FSC have provided outstanding value for money and we are looking forward to returning next year. Thanks to all the staff at Blencathra for a truly memorable holiday. (Lake District, August)

I just wanted to write to thank you and all the staff at Blencathra for making our Real Family Holiday so great. Although the allocation of a brilliant room (W1.4) helped, it was by no means the only thing that made it so special.  Many things contributed to this, but the staff were a major factor - they were all professional, friendly and very helpful. We're looking forward to booking for next year (though unfortunately it may have to be somewhat shorter at Blencathra due to restrictions on my annual leave, though I may be able to try the Yorkshire centre).

We enjoyed all the activities at Blencathra.  The centre was kept very clean, and the food was abundant, healthy and varied.   Except for breakfasts, which were consistent, which is what you want for breakfast.  It was great to have a cooked breakfast, because we were having sandwiches and salads for lunch. The manager of the centre said late in the week that he would have helped us with our laundry - cost us over £30 to take it to Keswick, largely because of the cost of drying there - we did 5 washes during our stay - if he had known about my elder son's eczema - but this information was on our booking form, so it is something that you might wish to be more helpful with another time. It was great to see my big boys, 14 and 17, bounding up and down hills for the geo-caching, striding up a fell on our mountain walk, meandering over the Bowder Stone on our nature walk.  I was touched when my 14 year old found the next geo-cache, but pretended he hadn't to allow the younger children the chance to find it themselves.  Your staff also recommended a great place to go canoeing. I would have preferred that my husband and I could have slept separately from my children, just because of their ages;  I had to get up earlier than them and go to breakfast by myself, so that they were comfortable to get up and be boys in the mornings.  I understand there were smaller rooms, provided for teachers.  When we stayed in Kindrogan in 2012 as a family we were given two rooms with two beds in each. All the staff who took us on expeditions were lovely.  We left a £20 tip for the kitchen and cleaning staff because they were so helpful, when we had left something in the pocket of a coat we had borrowed, or locked ourselves out of a room, someone always assisted us straight away. In the evenings, on the busiest days, there wasn't really anywhere to sit quietly and comfortably inside the centre.  Our bedroom was already very full as we had brought musical instruments with us, and it's never quiet in the same room as a hurdy-gurdy.  We ended up sitting on the stairs in the pub part.  Also it was almost impossible to follow dialogue on the television if families were chatting, partly because the settings on the television weren't optimal.  We asked a member of staff about sub-titles, and that improved our experience. We have been telling everyone what a lovely time we had, and what fantastic value for money it was. (Lake District, August)

5 Star Pic My son and I have had a fabulous four night stay on the real family holidays. We really enjoyed the outdoor activities. Blencathra and surrounding areas were beautiful with amazing scenery. Everybody was friendly, and the staff were helpful. Hope to visit again, would also like to visit other FSC centres. Feel this is a great value for money holiday which is very flexible. Must not forget to mention the food, which was great. The home made cakes and puddings were very popular.
Many Thanks

Real Family Holiday Yorkshire Dales 2014 Reviews:

5 Star Pic A fantastic family holiday, encouraging our kids to get out and make the most of our countryside. My eldest daughter would like to become one of your team leaders. We couldn't have been happier with our break, and we'll look forward to hopefully doing it again next year. (Yorkshire Dales, August)

5 Star PicWe absolutely loved our stay at The Malham Tarn Centre in the Yorkshire Dales. The staff were fabulous and couldn't do enough to help us all. As part of a single parent travel group we all had the best time together. The food and accommodation were exceptional value for money. We will be booking again next year. (Yorkshire Dales, August)

4 Star Pic The holiday was great. Accommodation was good, staff were fantastic, food was simple, good quality and plentiful. We would (and have) recommend it to others. Some things felt a little rough around the edges, but we got the impression that was because this was the first year that FSC have run these holidays, so hopefully they will improve. We left details on the feedback form at the centre. (Yorkshire Dales, August)

Having just returned from a Real Family Holidays at Malham Tarn Field Centre in the Yorkshire Dales, I must congratulate everyone involved for such a fantastic experience for all my family. Friendly staff, good food and activities designed to open up the eyes of our children to their environment. All set in the idyllic Yorkshire Dales. We are looking forward to visiting again. (Yorkshire Dales, August)

5 Star PicFantantastic group of leaders at the centre to help you out and get you envolved in the activities. We were all very nicely surprised at the food provided and the great selection, we just couldn't fault anything, especially given how delicious all the home made cakes were. This was the type of holiday that without this being in place we would never have done this without you. We went on so many walk's and took the time to enjoy the outdoors and scenery and our visit to the Caves was simply amazing. The kids thought it was such a fantastic adventure and our friends back home couldnt believe how many varied activities, outings and places we visited in such a short space of time. The venue was by far the brilliant location and setting that made it all possible. We will definitley be booking next year and taking advantage of visiting at least two centres. Thank you so much x (Yorkshire Dales, August)

3 Star Pic The holiday and accommodation met expectations. The meal provision was above expectations. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff exceeded expectations. We have a few suggestions of how to make the Family week even better. 1) More variety at breakfast would have been appreciated (e.g., mushrooms, eggs, tomatoes rather than sausages, bacon, beans and hash browns every day) 2) Putting serving dishes on each table rather than on one serving bench was better as it avoided queuing. 3) Putting supper to 6.30pm or 7pm would have been better as it was hard to feel hungry enough at 6pm after all the great food we'd been fed throughout the day. 4) It would have been great to have received an information pack before our arrival re: directions, what to bring (e.g., board games, books), warning about the lack of mobile reception and the state of the roads. 5) It would be better if adult groups came at different times to the family groups. 6) It would have been great if the bar had opened an hour earlier. 7)It would be great to have visitors leave reading books that they've finished with in one of the libraries so that others don't run out of holiday reading material. (Yorkshire Dales, August)

5 Star Pic All the staff at Malham were absolutely fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and the food was delicious. The whole family enjoyed the activities. We will definitely be going on another Real Family Holiday next year! Thank you so much. (Yorkshire Dales, August)

5 Star Pic Fantastic holiday, accommodation was basic but clean and comfortable, food choice was limited but good. Any criticism is insignificant when my 10 year old son said "Mum I think this has been the best week of my life!!" The staff were so helpful, friendly and enthusiastic. Seeing the children outside having so much fun and being so interested has been wonderful! We are already planning next year. Thank you. (Yorkshire Dales, August)

Real Family Holiday Snowdonia 2014 Reviews:

5 Star PicGreat activities, knowledgable and friendly staff, great food, beautiful location. Amazing value for money. The whole family really enjoyed themselves and we will definitely be booking another Real Family Holiday next year!  (Snowdonia, August)

5 Star PicA totally fantastic time in Snowdonia. Thank you RFH I really couldn't fault it. Excellent! (Snowdonia, August)

5 Star PicWe had a fantastic holiday. The staff were friendly and helpful. Activities were well organised and lots of fun for everyone. The centre was clean, accommodation good, and food was excellent. It was a wonderful family holiday! Only improvements could be to improve facilities in games room. Pool balls missing and damp. Maybe have a selection of u certificate DVDs for families to watch together in the evening. We will definitely book again! (Snowdonia, August)

5 Star Pic We had some most fantastic couple of days on our Real Family Holiday in Snowdonia. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the accommodation clean and comfortable and the food very yummy (especially the cake!). We really enjoyed the activities, especially the rock climbing and gorge scrambling. The holiday was outstanding value for money and probably our best family holiday yet. We are looking forward to our next stay in 2015! (Snowdonia, August)

5 Star Pic We had a fantastic time, thanks to your team. Staff were brilliant with the kids, they learnt a lot and so did I! I can now take my girls out bug hunting etc and have an idea of what we should be doing! The food was fantastic and all the catering staff were lovely and worked really hard, and the lady in the office was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back next summer, the girls can't wait! (Snowdonia, August)

5 Star Pic Excellent holiday - really friendly, welcoming staff - especially catering! Room was nice and spacious with clean bedding and comfy beds. Nice facilities and plenty to do on site with great activities organised by really helpful and informative staff. Will definitely book again - looking forward to next year! (Snowdonia, August)

5 Star Pic Really impressed. Accommodation good, staff friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Food was great; nutricious, flavoursome and plenty of it. In short, amazing value for money. I will definitely visit next year. (Snowdonia, August)

5 Star PicWe had an excellent holiday. Two adults and three children (age 4, 6 & 8) had a dorm with five sets of bunk beds with a shower room and a toilet to ourselves. The children loved being in the top bunks and made it their own little world. They loved the table tennis, table football and pool in a games room. We found the staff welcoming, flexible and accommodating. They even supplied us with a member of staff and some kick nets so we could explore the nearby river (river sampling was not formally available in our short stay). The children especially loved the fire making in the bushcraft skills session. A cooked breakfast was the ideal start to the day and there were plenty of choices for lunchtime sandwich making. The cakes went down very well too! The adults enjoyed the evening meal for vegetarians but the children found it a bit sophisticated. We used much of our time to explore the area and the children all loved the walk up to Cwm Idwal, they really felt like they had been climbing in the mountains. We also visited Caernarfon Castle, Swallow Falls and Great Orme Copper Mines. I would really recommend an FSC holiday to any family. It's flexible, fascinating and fun. (Snowdonia, August)

5 Star Pic THE BEST family holiday we have ever been on! Accommodation fantastic, staff very friendly and accomodating, location stunning, splendid food and activities perfect! We did so much together as a family and I think my husband and I enjoyed den building and fire starting as much as our boys....makes a welcome change to seeing the boys on their electronic gadgets stuck indoors. In the words of my three boys, the holiday was AWESOME! (Snowdonia, August)

Excellent value for money, lovely food, clean accommodation, great activities, plenty of space indoors & out for everyone. Nice to meet other families. Can't think of a complaint! (Snowdonia, August)

5 Star Pic We had a fantastic time, thanks to your team. The tutors were brilliant with the kids, they learnt a lot and so did I! I can now take my girls out bug hunting etc and have an idea of what we should be doing! 5 Star PicThe staff where great especially the tutors who presented very well and had loads of time to chat and educate , as we live in the city this was a good break and let us enjoy the beutiful countryside and try things we would not normally do,we espcially enjoyed the water gorge walk. Also rooms where clean and food spot on .One small point would have liked a licened bar to enjoy a glass off wine or two :) . We will be attending again next year , many thanks Tony and Lacey. (Snowdonia, August)

Real Family Holiday Orielton, Pembrokeshire 2014 Reviews:

5 Star PicThe centre was out of this world. Staff were warm and welcoming on arrival. The activities were very enjoyable and educational. The staff were helpful and enthusiastic about the subject area. The food was enjoyable and the grounds/house perfect for families. The coastline and wildlife was stunning and Skomer Island magical. We had such an adventure. Thank you. (Pembrokeshire, July)

5 Star PicThe children loved all the activities and we enjoyed coming back to delicious hot meal each day. Th organisation and communication of the centre staff was outstanding. Thank you for giving us a real family holiday. (Pembrokeshire, August)

5 Star PicFantastic value for money. Excellent well kept & clean facilities. Activities are fun & educational. My 2 boys aged 5 & 9 already want to return next year! Highly recommended! (Pembrokeshire, July)

5 Star PicAll staff were super and extremely helpful. Team who brought us on low ropes were very professional and helpful despite the awful weather. Our team leader was very helpful and encouraging towards the children. Children loved the surfing. The bat watching was fascinating. We all loved the cakes. A freezer for storing coolblocks would be useful. It might be helpful to remind families to monitor television content in family room as I entered it at times to find what I considered inappropriate programmes on television. I saw families leave with their children because of this. I asked for a change of channel and found everyone to be co operative. We all enjoyed our stay immensely. Lovely grounds. Many Thanks. (Pembrokeshire, July)

5 Star PicAmazing value. Really friendly and helpful staff. Fun activities for the kids. Tasty cake. They even arranged for perfect weather! The boys want to go again next year. (Pembrokeshire, July)

4 Star PicWe all really enjoyed ourselves. The house and were great. The free activities were nice but it wasn't clear when booking that we had to book on to the free ones too - so we missed out. The grounds are lovely and all staff friendly. The food was adequate for our needs and for what we paid a really good deal. It would have been nice to have more input on room allocation. As there were spare beds in our room - yet we knew of other members in our face book group we could have shared with to make it more profitable for Orielton. The play area in the basement & separate family rooms was a really good idea. the children felt safe to play and roam without disturbing younger and older guests. We had a great time Thanks.  (Pembrokeshire, August)

5 Star PicWe've had a very varied range of holidays before, from simple camping weekends to travels abroad, but I can say in all honesty that this is one of the very best family holidays we have ever had - and we can't wait to try another next year! (Pembrokeshire, July)

3 Star PicHad a good holiday, points of concern: No chair in the rooms to sit on and the bunk beds are too low to sit on No facilities for disabled The food was rather bland and I would have paid more for more flavour and variety The house was great and the activities were great for children Also on holiday it would be useful to push breakfast time back to 9.30am so as we could have a good sleep. (Pembrokeshire, July)

5 Star PicA fabulous holiday for children. A chance to experience wonderful things they never see in a city. Food good with vegetarian choices every day. Only downside was lots of families allowing children to run and shout in corridors very late at night. Not good when you have young children up early for an activity. A rule on this would improve things I'm sure! We will return next year nonetheless! (Pembrokeshire, August)

4 Star PicWe thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The activities on offer were varied and it was nice to have a mixture of daytime and evening activities to join in with. We particularly enjoyed the den building! The house was very well equipped and everything seemed to run very efficiently. Was a little bit apprehensive about the food, but it was good quality, comfort food with 2 options plus vegetarian most days. And the cakes...superb! All the staff were friendly. helpful and keen to offer advice on where to go and what to do. Our 6 year old loved the company of other children and there was plenty of space for them to play both inside and out. The only compromise for us was sharing the room together as our children were too young to be left whilst we went to the sitting room and the single bunk beds were not so comfy for my tall hubby. Overall, fantastic value for money and would highly recommend to other families.  (Pembrokeshire, July)

5 Star Pic Brilliant family holiday, great setting and loads for the kids to do.Lovely to see our daughter making new friends and asking to play with others. Would definitely book again! :) (Pembrokeshire, August)

5 Star Pic Well so much for being prepared! Arrived in the pouring rain and was confronted by bunk beds, husband not to impressed but I had the best sleep in years! and he got used to it. Food; absolutely amazing, just like school dinners but better. Area; beautiful and peaceful. Activities; just the right amount. We had a brilliant time and have no hesitation in telling our friends and family about our wonderful experience. The staff were helpful particularly when our daughter suffered a wasp sting and the house was spotless. Last but not least unbelievable price and will definately be coming again next year with the whole brood!!! Thank you! (Pembrokeshire, August)

4 Star Pic Unbelievable value and certainly lived up to the name...Real Family Holiday because that is exactly what we had. Spotless accommodation (although a chair in the room would be a great help) The catering team were excellent (A Special thanks to one member of staff who became our unofficial holiday guide, she displayed excellent local knowledge and recommended places to visit that added to our overall experience.)A great base to explore the amazing coastline of West Wales....Stunning. (Pembrokeshire, July)

5 Star Pic Fantastic break. We love camping and hostelling but this had the added advantage for me of not having to cook...I can't emphasise just how nice it was to come back every afternoon to a cup of tea and freshly-baked cake! The location is brilliant - children can be independent, playing football etc outside, yet still be close at hand. Great to have a "grown-ups" lounge to chill in and chat to other parents too. The catering team were so helpful and friendly - good wholesome food to suit most people. The instructors were equally great and a credit to the FSC - excellent role models. Doubt you could find a better value family holiday and Barafundle beach and Stackpole Quay (about 10 mins drive away) are stunning. Just a couple of suggestions to make it even better: - a chair in the bedroom (could not read on bunk) - get rid of the electronic kit in games room go it's a gadget-free zone - make it DVDs only in children's lounge (some progs not suitable) Thank you so much and keep up the great work. FSC? Family Superbly Chilled! (Pembrokeshire, August)

Real Family Holiday Slapton Ley, Devon 2014 Reviews:

5 Star PicFantastic week, probably our best family holiday ever, we all enjoyed it. The staff made us feel so welcome, the activities far exceeded our expectations and the facilities were spotless. We will certainly be looking to book again next year.  (Devon, August)

We had an amazing time with you this year. Better than what we expected. The price is a good price for what is included. I will definately recommend this holiday to friends and family, and we will also be returning ourselves for another funfilled week. Thankyou. (Devon, August)

5 Star PicI can as a single parent with 6 children aged between 7-14. All the staff - both FSC & the catering staff were helpful, attentive and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. The daily activities were well organised and were some of the best memories the children have. Highly recommended.  (Devon, August)

5 Star PicOur accommodation was very clean inc toilet & shower area. The stuff were very friendly and polite. The meal was nice with lots of vegetables. My children loved homemade chocolate cakes Also bat walk at night. We would love to book this holiday again also will recommend to everyone. This was our first time in Devon and We've had a great time. Thank you.  (Devon, August)

5 Star PicThe rooms were ready on arrival and beds comfortable and warm. Good facilities in the room with tea and coffee as well as a lamp. The facility itself was clean and the toilets and showers always in a very clean condition. Towels and rubbish were changed which was good. The activities were just right - particularly the Bat walk and activities by the sea. Pitched well for both adults and kids to all enjoy and take part in. The food was of a very high standard - in fact this was the bit I was most impressed with, as it is obvious that great care and attention goes into providing local and good quality ingredients and making nutritious dishes. also, the kitchen staff were lovely. One member of staff was especially welcoming and friendly and it was just so nice and refreshing as it felt like the staff enjoy it as much as guests there do. Overall, very impressed and reluctant to recommend only because I'm worried everyone will want to go next year! There were no negatives, but if there were some points I could make it would be that you ideally need a car to get around, as all the activities are from the other centre and it was quite a long walk for young children, so I think it's worth noting that on marketing materials. Also, the bedrooms were quite musty smelling - maybe some air freshened could be placed in the rooms? I noticed when we arrived that no windows were open, so maybe rooms need to be aired? All in all, excellent and great value. (Devon, August)

5 Star Pic Excellent value, service and attention from all staff. (Devon, August)

5 Star Pic I thought this holiday sounded too good to be true and was surprised to find it was even better than I had imagined. Slapton is beautiful, the Start Bay staff are wonderful and the activities so well thought out by brilliant knowledgeable organisers. An amazing family experience, I can't wait to try and rebook next year! (Devon, August)

5 Star Pic Thank you to all at start bay for a terrific holiday for myself and my grand daughter. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and at the centre especially the wonderful outdoor equipment. We found the activities we took part in to be fun and informative and thank you for the welcome shown to our additional familt members on the bat walk. Also a mention to the fabulous food provided during our stay the breakfast, packed lunch choices and scrummy evening meals were delicious and nutritious thank you. We hope to see you all again. Keep up the good work , great value for money. (Devon, August)

5 Star PicThe holiday eceeeded expectations from start to finish! Without FSC I would probably not have afforded a holiday with my children and this one was perfect...the sort of stuff that long term childhood memories are made of and that is very precious. For me it was a carefree time with fabulous catering staff who built a great raport with all the children and made meal times fuss free...oh so relaxing. It was lovely to be on holiday with likeminded families too! Activities were well organised and accomodation comfortable. It was a real treat to stay in such a grand location with access to so much. Thank you everyone very much. I shall be rebooking soonest for 2015. (Devon, August)
